The Boston 13 is adidas' durable fast-training counterpart to its race shoes. It mixes responsive Lightstrike Pro with firmer Lightstrike 2.0 and ENERGYRODS, trading the all-out lightness of a racer for structure, rubber coverage and repeatable training mileage.

Adizero Boston 13
A strong tempo and long-workout shoe for runners who like a firmer, guided platform. It rewards midfoot and forefoot mechanics and offers excellent durability, but the tapered toe box and narrow heel reduce its universal appeal.
The bottom line
A strong tempo and long-workout shoe for runners who like a firmer, guided platform. It rewards midfoot and forefoot mechanics and offers excellent durability, but the tapered toe box and narrow heel reduce its universal appeal.
Ride and cushioning
The ride is firm at jogging pace and increasingly rewarding as force and cadence rise. More Lightstrike Pro gives version 13 better rebound than its predecessor, while the rods organise toe-off without creating the rigid sensation of a full carbon plate. It feels especially coherent through sustained tempo and marathon-pace work.
Fit and upper
The updated upper improves heel comfort and tongue lockdown while remaining breathable. The shape narrows toward the toes, so runners who need natural splay or whose feet swell on long runs should be cautious. Standard-width, lower-volume feet receive the most secure performance fit.
Stability, grip and durability
Midfoot landings feel stable and guided, but the narrow heel is less reassuring for runners who contact far back or need support. Continental-style rubber coverage supplies excellent grip and durability, making this a more dependable high-mileage workout shoe than many delicate super trainers.
Best uses
Use it for threshold sessions, cruise intervals, marathon-pace blocks and faster long runs. It can handle ordinary daily mileage, but the firm carrier is unnecessary on recovery days. The robust outsole makes sense for runners who want a workout shoe to survive a full training cycle.
Trade-offs
Fit is the limiting factor: the pointy front and narrow rear platform will not suit every foot or strike. The foam blend also feels less seamless than the full Lightstrike Pro EVO SL. In exchange, the Boston offers more structure and outsole longevity.
